KUDDO
Origins
Drawing inspiration from the Japanese word "Shokudo", which translates to "diner."
In Japan, there's a beloved television series known as Midnight Diner (Shinya Shokudo). On this show, we get a glimpse of tucked away diners in the back alleys of Tokyo, where people come together to share meals and moments of their life stories.
dinner
A lonely little boy with only a gambler to take care of him hopes to make a connection with a bar girl over a mutual appreciation for egg tofu.
An unemployed Enka singer (modernized Japanese ballad) shares a bowl of fish flakes on rice with the master in the mornings. Her luck changes when she meets a composer, but fate has other plans for her.
An arrogant food critic is invited for a meal at the diner prompting resentment from the regular patrons. A visit by an elderly guitarist and his performance payment of a simple bowl of butter rice resurrects memories for the food critic.
And so on.
Kuddo, phonetically close to ‘cuddle’, embraces the cozy, affectionate, and social imagery that our app conveys.
Like the midnight diner that offers a refuge for lonely hearts to gather, Kuddo embraces the concept of a round table gathering, with arrangements of a few anonymous guests to create an intimate and meaningful experience.
